Born to a PORTUGUESE father & English mother<\/em><\/strong>\u2026” (*EDITORIAL NOTE<\/em><\/strong>: Although<\/em> the Packard brothers are<\/em> credited with having the FIRST whaling station in San Diego, in 1858<\/strong>, it’s also<\/em> true that [so far] *I*<\/strong> have been UNABLE TO VERIFY<\/strong><\/em> the published detail that they were<\/em><\/strong> of any PORTUGUESE ancestry<\/em><\/strong> [pending] – ed. = Jeff L.
